The stylist within (cough) just kidding. . .
The never ending search for the perfect fall garment.
Every year around this time I start my hunt for the PFG (Perfect Fall Garment). Normally it ends with me going back to my trusted military coat, knee high boots, or plaid scarf. Problem is... I no longer live in WA. And sadly my assumption is that NC does not get below 40 degrees. So, no coat, boots, or scarf. What is this years PFG? Great question.
Pondering a 3yr piggy bank that saves for a new Burberry Scarf, for snowy days back home.
Where do I go for my yearly PFG?

Miss Dior
Mila Kunis as Miss Dior, not one word can properly convey my excitement.
This is ingenious, from That 70's Show to Miss Dior. Mila Kunis has always been that brunette that my husband loves... and that I don't mind if he likes. No offense Kardashian sisters! When I first saw this ad my heart quickened and a smile crossed my face. I love this chick. Mouthy, witty, beautiful. How can you not! And now the House of Dior.
Oh and this images is a dream! Let's break it down the easy way....
Line: See those vertical lines. (Buildings to the right, vertical bricking behind Mila, the almost vertical position of her body with a bit of a Contrapposto pose)
The diagonal line, moving from left to right. (Draw a line from Mila's handbag to her sunglasses, and from the bottom left photographer to the photographer behind her)
Shape: Square. (Buildings, bricks, windows, handbag, sunglasses) Triangles. (The two photographers use their arms, body and equipment to make triangles) These are hard to see.
Color: I WISH! In color this would be equally as beautiful.
Texture: Ribbing. (Within the sweater, difficult to see), Stones. (The reflecting stones on her sweater give a smooth surface appearance
Animal. (Handbag is made of some textured material in a reptile or gator skin) Real? Hell if I know.
Value: Black and white are not color. (Mila's apparel to the flashbulb light spots a wide range of value is expressed in this image)
Space: Positive. (Mila and photographers) in foreground. Negative. (Everything to the right) creates background. This background is everything behind Mila, difficult to see and is used to balance.
Proportion: Mila is seen as a focal point to that of the sourning cityscape, which is large but lest intense due to its lack of depth or dark value.
Balance: " Asymmetrical: An informal balance that is attention attracting and dynamic. It balances a number of items of smaller size on one side with a larger one on the other. The modern feel an asymmetrical design is complex to create as it takes skills to distribute the blank space image is left heavy with darkness and movement." I'll make this easy.... (Mila to the number of windows on the right and the space between them.)
Unity: Similarity. (All figures are clothed in dark tones, have dark hair and share a similar sleekness) Rhythm/Pattern. (Created by vertical lines, and repetitious squares)
I know. The elements and principles are much much more than this. This is just a little help to my non artistic readers that see beauty in imagery and don't understand why. This is basic. I hope it helps.
Want me to help you break down your favorite work. Email it to me. I'd love too!

Glitter spoon, Silver spoon ?.......... or Galactic Necklace
Geode & Citrine Necklace
I love to find odd little works of wearable art. Brilliant by far. To me this has a far out feel, like one just fell from a star and landed in the cosmos.
Yes, Chanel (Chief Designer Karl Lagerfeld) is doing a spectacular purple agate necklace in one of their ads. COULD NOT FIND IT ONLINE, Sorry.
Excuse me a moment while I dream a little...
Back to reality.
Like most this little military family budget does have the $$ to be buying Chanel necklaces. But, that's OK! This Geode & Citrine is perfect. It's budget/save/splurge friendly and most likely not as heavy.
I am thinking this is going to be on my Christmas list......HINT HINT.
The Geode & Citrine Necklace pictured left comes from LEIF. They sell all sorts of amazing things glitter teaspoons sets, agate trivets, and paint chip table runners. How could a girl not love this place. It's products are beautiful, unique and reasonably price. Officially, my go to shop for wedding and housewarming gifts. Trust me...
This online shop has no physical store, but a beautiful blog and shop. Check it out! http://leifshop.blogspot.com/

Little Grey Dress
Karen Millen Romantic Embroidery Dress
Silver or Pale Pink. Get it right.Yes, it's limited edition in (pink). And currently sold out. That's what happens when something goes viral on Pinterest. The issue I'm having is the color seems to be different on webpages. Some silver and some pink. The Karen Millen website says its pale pink. While glamor and stylemetv say its silver or white. Someone help me get it right. It's being advertised as a "Strapless tutu dress with elaborate all over floral embroidery. - Stylemetv.com
As lovely as this Icelandic number is. (Karren Millen is an Icelandic owned designer clothing brand)
I am going to pass. The word tutu is a big turn off.

Paper Assholes & Hole Reinforcements
OR Half Moon Nails.
My favorite family slang.....is only explained with a childhood memory. My mother calls a paper hole reinforcement, a paper asshole. Shhh! Don't tell and please, excuse my vulgarity. I as a small-ish child (middle school) thought this was funny. Oddly enough to this day I still giggle to myself every time I pass the stationary at target. Or see a half moon nail tutorial a smile crosses my face. Yes, I will pass this bad bad family slang on. Here is my TREND. See my before and after Half Moon Nails!
Gah FYI Epic-ish-fail ....This is not my thing. LOL But just for you.....

Revisited Impressionist Dress... Tracy Reese for Anthropologie
The must have summer dress
For me this dress was love at first sight.
A floral print with amazing visual texture and athletic cut. Truly beautiful hues of blue and green with dash of roses, for a truly organic feel. Stunning. Perfect for tea with the queen (maybe a tad too short) or a dash to the derby. I need this day dream dress in my closet! Now only if my money tree would grow.
Dress Right: Tracy Reese for Anthropologie, Revisited Impressionist Dress.
Also.....Seen on Dianna Agron and Caroline Sunshine.
